macOS Ventura

The macOS Ventura is the latest update launched by Apple for its Macintosh computer ecosystem. It is a direct successor to last year's macOS Monterey OS. Following the trend, macOS Ventura introduces several new and unique features to enhance the Mac experience.

The newest operating system from Apple was announced at its Worldwide Developers Conference in June 2022. It is expected to be released later this year to consumers. The macOS Ventura will not be released for several Mac computers, especially those released before 2017 including the MacBook 2016.

macOS Ventura

There are several updates as well as new features that macOS Ventura will bring to Mac computers once it is released. Through this article, we will try to cover most of the new features in macOS Ventura as well as some major updates. So, stay tuned.

Stage Manager

This Stage Manager is the newest addition to the macOS system. The very purpose of this feature is to improve the multitasking experience in Mac computers. The Stage Manager will put all the windows and apps in one place to help you keep focused while doing your daily tasks.

It will also improve the shift between apps and windows. With just one click, users will be able to access the desired file.

The Stage Manager also introduces the ability to organize different apps by making app groups. Apps can be put in one place so that you do not have to work hard finding them when you are short on time with your project. Moreover, you can also change the layout of these groups for your ease.

Stage Manager will be exclusive to specific Mac computers for now.

Freeform

Freeform is yet another name on the list of new features in macOS Ventura. It introduces a whiteboard on the screen which allows you to draw anything freely. The only difference is that it is not just your regular whiteboard.

With Freeform, users will be able to collaborate with each other on important projects, that too in real-time. As the collaboration is live, users can view what others are contributing or making changes, mimicking a classroom-like experience with a whiteboard upfront.

Moreover, users can also communicate in Freeform through FaceTime and Messages. In addition, they can also add a document, PDF, video, image, or web link to Freeform which is something that perhaps has never been brought to the screen before.

Freeform will be available with macOS Ventura when it releases later this year.

Mail & Messages

Both Mail and Messages apps have been updated for macOS Ventura.

The Mail app is now more intelligent than it has ever been before. It will correct typing errors and provide an improved experience by giving search suggestions. It will also notify you of a missed attachment or a recipient in emails. However, these features will be limited to a few regions for the time being.

With macOS Ventura, users will also be able to set reminders in the Mail app if they want to get back to specific emails in the inbox. Also, they will be able to schedule a message to send at a certain time. The macOS Ventura will also enhance the Messages app by sharing many features with iOS 16 and the newest iPadOS. You can now collaborate with others on different documents, spreadsheets, or projects with the help of the Messages app.

For this to work, you will have to send a collaboration invitation to the contributors. From that thread, they will automatically be redirected to the project. Even more, you will also receive activity updates on the project through that Messages thread.

Furthermore, users will be able to edit a sent message within 15 minutes of delivery. Moreover, a message can also be marked as unsent, within the same time limit i.e., 15 minutes after delivery.

Security & Privacy

Both security and privacy are the main elements of a software update. With the introduction of different new features in macOS Ventura, Apple has also made improvements in its privacy and security departments.

As for privacy, the Hidden and Recently Deleted albums are going to be more secure starting with macOS Ventura. Now, they will be locked by default and can only be unlocked by the login method of your Mac computer.

The Mac computers will also receive security improvements with the normal system updates. And the good news is that, unlike regular system updates, these security updates will not require your Mac to restart.

Safari

The beloved Safari browser has also caught some improvements in this latest update. With macOS Ventura, users will be able to create a set of tabs called Tab Groups. The Tab Group/s will have tabs shared by different people, setting a new benchmark for those seeking to work together.

The Tab Groups will also have dedicated start pages of their own that can be customized with a background image. Users can also pin tabs for each Tab Group.

Further Enhancements

The macOS Ventura further enhances the Mac experience in different areas, the brief details of which are given below.

  • Passkeys has replaced Passwords. Passkeys will prevent leakage of your passwords through websites, resulting in a secure environment.
  • The iCloud photo library can be shared with up to 5 people now. Each person can contribute to the library by having equal rights to make changes to it.
  • FaceTime introduces Handoff, a feature using which users can move calls from their Mac to iPhone/iPad or vice versa.
  • In macOS Ventura, users will be able to use their iPhones as webcams or microphones, starting with iPhone XR and later.
  • The system settings are going to be more organized now with different categories. The navigation will be simpler with a newer design language. Each settings pane will be more spacious. Users will be able to search for an option using the Search tool in settings.
  • After iPhone and iPad, the Clock app will also be available for Mac starting with macOS Ventura.
  • The Maps app will be smarter. Users will be able to plan a journey with multiple stops.

The list just keeps going and going with upgrades to most departments of macOS.

This article tried to cover most of the new features in macOS Ventura. However, users will only be able to experience them once Apple releases the newest macOS later this year, to Mac users.
